AI to Transform Travel Experiences and Shape the Future of Tourism, aver Industry Experts at Amity University
Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus, organised a Seminar on the theme “Smart Tourism for a Digital Future: Leveraging AI to Transform Travel Experience” , to commemorate World Tourism Day -2026. The seminar brought together eminent leaders from the tourism, hospitality, travel and technology sectors to discuss the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in tourism.
Addressing the students during the Seminar, Chief Guest, Mr. Rahul Himalian, IRTS, Chairman & Managing Director, IRCTC, said, “IRCTC has introduced many technology-led initiatives, which have made the customer experience easier. AI can make travel more seamless, personalised and efficient, while the human element will continue to remain at the heart of tourism and hospitality.”
Delivering the Keynote Address, Guest of Honour, Mr. Arun Srivastava, Joint Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, highlighted the importance of responsible digital transformation and stated, “AI is opening new possibilities across the tourism value chain, and India must leverage technology to build tourism that is inclusive, accessible and sustainable. The youth of the country is very smart and intelligent, however, they must have a strong will and determination to achieve their goals.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ravi Gosain, President, IATO & Director, ERCO Travels Pvt. Ltd., said, “Today’s traveller expects convenience, personalisation and meaningful experiences as they are well informed do their own research before travelling. Therefore, professionals should be more tech-savvy and learn how to use AI so that they can provide good customer experience.”
Emphasising upon the hospitality perspective, Mr. Kush Kapoor, CEO, Roseate Hotels & Resorts, remarked, “Roseate Hotels have launched new tech-enabled services for the customers. AI can personalise every touchpoint of the guest journey, but technology must always complement the warmth and authenticity of hospitality.”
Stressing on the importance of industry-academia collaboration, Mr. Bhupendra Thakur, General Manager, India ITME Society and Platinum Trade Partner, asserted, “Students must be equipped with both technological understanding and the creativity, communication and problem-solving skills required by the tourism industry of tomorrow.”
Mr. Rangarajan V, Chief Digital Officer, Defence & Aerospace, Adani Enterprises, observed, “Technology has been an enabler for the tourism industry and AI, data analytics and automation can help tourism organisations anticipate customer needs, optimise operations and make smarter decisions.”
Highlighting the significance of the Programme, Prof. (Dr.) M. Sajnani, Dean, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism & Director, Amity Institute of Travel & Tourism, said, “In today’s era when technology has transformed various sectors, the theme of the Seminar is very apt. Students must be prepared to understand both the opportunities and responsibilities associated with emerging technologies and their application in tourism.”
Sharing his industry perspective, Mr. Krishan Singh, Lead Asia, Ennea Capital Partners, Former CEO, TUI India and Advisor to Leela Palaces (Brookfield), noted, “AI is changing how travel experiences are discovered, purchased and consumed, making the intersection of technology, consumer behaviour and human experience increasingly important.”
Mr. Gaurav Mishra, Head Marketing, India & South Asia, Amadeus, stated, “AI-powered travel planning, personalised experiences, and digital transformation are evolving the tourism industry. AI is enabling the travel industry to move towards more contextual and personalised experiences across the entire customer journey.”
The event concluded with an emphasis on stronger collaboration between academia and industry to build a smart, sustainable and future-ready tourism ecosystem.
