Objectives/Inspiration
 Life Sciences offer an integrated approach to deal with all the aspects of Biology i.e. Health care, Medical biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Agriculture Biotechnology, Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology, computational biology, Bioenergy, and most emerging Nanobiotechnology etc., through knowledge generation, innovations and development of cutting-edge technology. Amity Institute of Biotechnology & Department of Environmental Science, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior, India in association with The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Bhopal Chapter organised an International Seminar on Current Trends in Life Sciences (Int-SCTLS-2023) 1st March, 2023, in hybrid mode and provided Offline/Online forum. The International Seminar (Int-SCTLS-2023) provides an interdisciplinary platform for scientific community and budding researchers, academicians, policy makers and industry experts who are working in diverse areas of Life Sciences to discuss recent trends and challenging issues. 
The aim of the international seminar was to discuss mitigation strategies, technological advancements and exchange of ideas on contemporary issues. Several distinguished eminent speakers from various national and international reputed academic and research institutions and industry were invited to share their ideas and valuable inputs to the research scholars, students in the field of Biotechnology and Nanobiotechnology. The International Seminar (Int-SCTLS-2023) was enriched with expert lectures of distinguished eminent speakers from various reputed academic and research institutions from India and abroad.
International Seminar on Current Trends in Life Sciences (Int-SCTLS-2023) was organised with following objectives:                
 
1.     Exploring the major leading thrust areas of Life Sciences research to address key issues and challenges, opportunities through multidisciplinary approach.
2.     To disseminate knowledge and share experiences among leading academicians, scientists, and research scholars on thrust areas and challenges in diverse domain of Life Sciences research.
3.     To provide a forum to create an opportunity for research collaborations, discussion on the latest issues, challenges, technological advances and mutual exchange of ideas among Scientists, Research scholars, academicians, and industry experts.
4.     To facilitate young students, scholars & researchers to display their research and connect themselves with scientific community.
5.     To enhance visibility of AIB, AUMP as a premiere educational institution to enhance its brand value among scientific community.
6.     The publication of collection of abstracts in the form of Souvenir for future reference.

·        He has been coordinating research on Homa Therapy, In the beginning mainly Eastern European countries like Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Yugoslavia, etc., since a couple of years also in India.

In total approximately 300 attendees (including research scholars and students of AIB/EVS) joined the international Seminar (Int-SCTLS-2023) during different sessions which includes inaugural, technical and valedictory sessions.

The various sessions of the International Seminar on Current Trends in Life Sciences (Int-SCTLS-2023) covered different thrust areas and research advances in Life Sciences, especially in the area of Plant Sciences, Animal Sciences, Biochemistry and Medical Biochemistry, Microbiology and Microbial technology, Genetics and Genetic Engineering, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Agricultural and natural products, Omics Approaches for Abiotic and Biotic Stress tolerance, Bioremediation, Biomass and Bio-energy, Nanobiotechnology,  Environmental and Industrial Biotechnology, Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change and Sustainability etc.
 
·       Distinguished Key Note speaker Prof. (Dr.) Jurg Ott Professor Emeritus and Head of Lab, Rockefeller University New York, USA delivered Key note address and discussed about statical biology and focused on underline methods of Searching for genotype pairs underlying digenic diseases, He elaborated well-known Apriori pattern search algorithm. 
·       Distinguished Key Note Speaker Prof. (Dr.) Ulrich delivered Key note address and focused on the importance of Agnihotra and Homa Organic Farming in sustainable agriculture and environment. He explained the how Agnihotra Ash helps to mitigate problems of the pollution of our atmosphere, the soil, and water resources and thus lead to sustainable agriculture and horticulture.
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker Prof. (Dr). Rajesh Patel, focused on the topic ‘AMR (Anti Microbial Resistance) - one health approach from local to global’ He explained the evolutionary and necessary research aspects for enhancing antimicrobial use regulation and policy, surveillance, stewardship, infection control, sanitation, animal husbandry, and alternatives to antimicrobials.
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker Professor (Dr.) Jyoti Priyadarshini Shrivastava, focused on the topic ‘Nanotechnology in health care-A revolution in Medical field’ she elaborated major applications of nanotechnology in medicine, especially the role of nanoparticles to deliver drugs, heat, light or other substances to specific types of cells (such as cancer cells).
·        Distinguished Invited guest speaker Dr. Mala Trivedi, delivered a lecture on topic ‘Somatic Embryo: A Potential tool for developing disease tolerant plants, with special reference to Papaya Ring Spot Virus’. She explained the step wise method use of somatic embryos in developing transgenic papaya plants with tolerance to papaya ring spot virus using tr-cp gene.
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker Prof. (Dr.) B.P. Mishra delivered on the topic ‘Pollutants removal efficiency of water treatment plant in Champhai Town, Mizoram: Suggestive measures for betterment of potable water’ and explained the advanced water treatment methods and suggested over conventional methods.
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker Prof. (Dr.) Sujata Sharma, on the topic ‘Antibiotic Resistance and its Environmental Impact: A Vicious cycle of a Global Health Threat’ and focused need for careful monitoring of antibiotic use and aggressive repurposing of drugs to enhance the drug pipeline for new antibiotics while limiting environmental to overcome the global threat of antibiotic resistance.   
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker Prof. (Dr.) Shanthy Sundaram, delivered talk on “Emerging Algae-Based Technologies for Sustainable Circular Economy” and focused on current advances in algal biology and emphasized the need to promote the creation of an algal-based bioeconomy.
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker Prof. (Dr.) Alok Patel, talked on the Topic ”3D printing of lab-grown food”, and focused on lab-cultivated lipid and protein-rich autotrophic and heterotrophic microalgae mixed as meat and production of plantbased burger by 3D printer.
 
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker Prof. (Dr.) A.M. Deshmukh, talked on the topic ‘Microbial Solubilization of Metals from Electronic waste (E-waste)”.  He explains the study on the bioleaching of metals from electronic waste. Especially isolation of metal from e-waste using formulated microbial consortium from waste PCB.
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Srivastava, delivered a talk on ‘How to Stabilize the Agricultural Production in Climate Change Situation’. He emphasised on breeding of heat and water stress tolerant varieties in different crops to minimizing the effect of climate change. He also focussed on the adoption of Hi-tech agriculture and improved agronomic practices in agriculture system. 
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker from industry Dr. Mithilesh Jaiswal, delivered a lecture on ‘Probiotics as biotherapeutic agents for health benefits’ and emphasized need to develop Probiotics containing foods products and supplements with the cooperation of legal bodies to ensure the safety of the consumers. 
·       Distinguished Invited guest speaker Dr. Garima Mathur, delivered lecture on the topic ‘Microbial production of polymers: a sustainable approach’ and focused on large scale production of microbial polymers (bacterial cellulose & fungal chitosan) along with need of isolation of cellulose producing bacterial strain from rotten fruits and large-scale production of bacterial cellulose for various applications.
·       The presentations delivered by delegates/participants during the technical sessions sensitized the researchers/participants to peruse research activities and buildup innovative ideas and technological advancement on contemporary issues and their mitigation strategies.
·       Amity University Madhya Pradesh is now being well recognized as a Research oriented University working in the area of Biotechnology and Nanobiotechnology among scientific community, research scholars and aspiring students.
·       During the international seminar, different technical sessions were enriched with informative lectures delivered by distinguished experts from reputed universities and industry.  All the delegates/ participants/ research scholars and students were benefited by their deliberations and showed positive response in taking part in various sessions. This has helped in broadening the knowledge base of students and participants with respect to current status and future of biotech industry.
Tangible Gains for the Faculty, Researchers and Students of Amity.
The tangible gains:
  • The International Seminar on Current Trends in Life Sciences (Int-SCTLS-2023), 1st March 2023, received wide publicity among the scientists, academicians and research scholars and students through various publicity means, E-mails, social media and direct communication etc. 
 
·       Amity Institute of biotechnology, Amity University Madhya Pradesh got a wide appraisal from distinguished guest speakers and shown interest for possible collaboration in research activities including funded research projects.
 
·       Distinguished Guest/Expert speakers also shown interest to take up AIB students for SIP/ Major projects in their institutions.
 
·       The Souvenir was distributed among all the participants of the international Seminar. Souvenir was released during the inaugural session of The International Seminar on Current Trends in Life Sciences (Int-SCTLS-2023). It consisted of 190 abstracts of participants and 12 abstracts of invited speakers and 02 kay note of keynote speaker, covering major thrust area of biotechnology and Nanobiotechnology for future reference. This will provide wide publicity of Amity University Madhya Pradesh among scientists, researchers, and academicians.
 
·       The International Seminar on Current Trends in Life Sciences (Int-SCTLS-2023) received wide publicity through social media, Emails, personal interaction etc., among the various Universities, Institutes and Colleges. This has helped in brand building of AUMP.
 
·       The International Seminar on Current Trends in Life Sciences (Int-SCTLS-2023) received wide print coverage and it was covered by most of the leading newspapers of MP including, Nai Dunia, Raj Express and Dainik Udgaaretc. This will help in gaining mass attention of students and their parents leading to more admissions in forthcoming session of AUMP.
 
·      The faculty members and students from various Universities and Institutions all over the India and Abroad such as, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida., S.P.C. Government College, Ajmer, Rajasthan, College of Fisheries Kawardha Chhattisgarh, Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation, Guntur, India, Govt. PG College, Narsinghgarh, Dist. Rajgarh, M.P, Magadh University, Bodh Gaya, Vels University (VISTAS), India, D.A.V. College, Muzaffarnagar (U.P.), Meerut College, Meerut (U.P.), Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, UP, India, Delhi University New Delhi , Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur, Chhattisgarh, SAGE University, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, , PP Savani University, Kosamba, Surat, Gujrat, Lovely Professional University, Punjab,Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur, University of Rajasthan, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Barkatullah University Bhopal, KRG College of Gwalior, Jiwaji University, Gwalior, ITM university, Gwalior etc.   have actively participated in the workshop This has further popularized the AIB, AUMP at national and international level.
 
·       An amount Rs. 20,000.0/- was received from The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Bhopal Chapter, INDIA for international seminar (Int-SCTLS 2023).
·       The total amount received as registration fee from participants is Rs. 37, 910.70/- 
·       The total revenue generated from Int-SCTLS 2023 is Rs 57910.70/- only.
·       While we spent Rs.24357/- only on Printing and binding of Seminar Souvenir, stationary, mementos, refreshment etc.
·       Total revenue generated form the seminar is Rs.57910.70/- and total amount spent is Rs. 24357/- i.e., Net Gain is Rs. 33553.70/- only.  
Followed-Up with the Guests to consider Various Collaborations 
·       Post event plan to follow-up with the distinguished guests will be focused on to build up mutual collaborations like,
Ø  Research Collaborations for funded projects
Ø  Research activities for students like SIP and Major Projects
Ø  Mutual sharing of laboratory facilities for students 
Ø  Industrial collaboration
Ø  Association in Seminar/Conferences/Workshops and other scientific activities.
The above possibilities will be exercised with mutual consultation and convenience.
Plans for utilising the contacts developed with the Invited Guests, for future cooperation to meet the targets of ‘Mission: Connect’ and Mission: Synergy of Brains.
·       Invited speakers may be approached for possibility for research collaboration with mutual consultation.  
·       Invited speakers may be approached as Co-Supervisor of scholars for their master’s and Ph.D programmes.
·       Invited speakers may be approached as Co-PI of research projects of national and international funding agencies.
·       Exploring more opportunities for SIP and Major Projects for our students with the distinguished speakers’ organisation in coming sessions.
·       AIB is looking forward to invite distinguished guests in its upcoming events like / Guest lectures/seminar/conferences etc in next 6 months to further consolidate mutual bonding. 
·       Eminent speakers may be nominated as external member/domain expert in various departmental committees, if consented by them.
