Movie-Making Competition: Building an Inclusive India – Equality, Justice and Progress

Occasion: 134th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar
As part of the commemoration of the 134th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Amity Institute of Social Sciences (AISS) organized a Movie-Making Competition titled “Building an Inclusive India – Equality, Justice and Progress” on 17th April 2025. The event was held from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Seminar Hall, D Block, Amity University Madhya Pradesh.
The competition was designed to provide a platform for students to creatively express their ideas and concerns regarding contemporary social justice issues, drawing inspiration from the life and vision of Dr. Ambedkar. The themes explored in the student films included Caste Discrimination, Gender Inequality, Rural Development, Mental Health Awareness, LGBTQ+ Rights, Poverty and Education, and Environmental Sustainability.

Both guests served as jury members and offered constructive feedback to the students on their presentations and film direction, praising the originality and the strong social relevance portrayed in the entries.

Dr. Iti Roychowdhury commended the students for their research, creativity, and meaningful engagement with the values of equity and justice, as envisioned by Dr. Ambedkar.
Event Highlights
A total of 74 students attended the screening session. All faculty members from AISS and ASL were present and supported the event. The shortlisted student films were screened before an engaged audience. The competition concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony, recognizing the best entries.
