Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow organised a five day Faculty Development Programme on ‘DATA SCIENCE WITH STATISTICAL METHODS USING R PROGRAMMING’ in online mode. This FDP was funded and sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E.). The event was organised under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Sunil Dhaneshwar, Pro Vice Chancellor Amity University, Lucknow Campus by Event Chairperson Wg Cdr (Dr) Anil Kumar, Assistant Pro VC and Director, Coordinator Dr Anuradha Mishra, Assistant Professor, Amity University, Lucknow Campus.
The five day FDP commenced with the inaugural session on 21st June 2021 which was graced by eminent educationist Dr Manpreet Singh Manna, former director AICTE and Professor at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology as the guest of honour. The FDP was conducted in 15 sessions during which intensive training including hands on practical training was imparted by domain experts invited from various eminent educational institutes from across the country. The FDP was attended by over 200 academicians, researchers, scholars and faculty members from 80 districts all across India.
Wing Commander (Dr) Anil Kumar said that the objective of the FDP is to provide participants with a distinctive qualitative edge in knowledge and sufficient skill level to gain expertise in data science from the best experts in the field. He said that in today's era, the importance of data science is so much that it has become very important for a teacher of any field to learn it.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Program Coordinator- Dr. Anuradha Mishra, Assistant Professor, Amity University, Lucknow expressed her gratitude to Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity University, Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor and President, Lucknow Campus, Dr. Atul Chauhan, President and Dr. Balwinder Shukla , Vice Chancellor, Amity University Lucknow Campus. She thanked A.I.C.T.E. Atal academy for accepting her proposal and gave her the opportunity to organize this FDP. She thanked the Chief Guest of the program Dr. Manpreet Singh Manna, who explained the current situation on Data Science and motivated everyone to learn it. Dr. Anuradha thanked Professor Shalabh, IIT Kanpur, for giving three days time to this FDP despite his busy schedule and giving hands on training to all the participants. She thanked the other speakers of the program Dr. Arvind Pandey, Central University of Rajasthan, Dr. Amod Tiwari, Government Engineering College, Sonbhadra, Mr. Anant Awasthi, Genpact India pvt ltd and Dr. Manju Aggarwal, Amity University, Lucknow for their contribution in the programme. She expressed her gratitude to all the guests, speakers, participants and all the associates involved in the successful organization of FDP. She mentioned that the participants working in high positions of various sectors joined the FDP and they would use the knowledge acquired from this training program in their respective fields. Consequently, the quality of teaching and research work being done by them will increase, which will benefit the society and the nation. She expressed her gratitude to all and concluded the program wishing everyone a bright future.
