A Visit to National Botanical Research Institute, CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow

A one-day educational visit was organized by the Amity Institute of Pharmacy (AIP), Amity University Uttar Pradesh Lucknow Campus to one of the most renowned research institute of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow on 22nd February 2024.

Prof. (Dr.) Satya Prakash Singh and Dr. Ramesh Kumar Gupta, Associate Professor, AIP, AUUP, Lucknow coordinated this educational visit and accompanied the M. Pharm. (Pharmaceutics) & (Pharmacology) students of 2nd semester along with. The CSIR, is known for its cutting-edge R&D knowledge base in diverse S&T areas, is a contemporary R&D organization. CSIR has a dynamic network of 37 national laboratories, 39 outreach centres, 1 Innovation Complexes, and three units with a pan-India presence. Out of these students were made to visit National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) with the main objective to help the students in acquiring a practical knowledge on the details of plants, their cultivation and collection process, authentication process, herbarium maintenance, plant parts extraction and isolation process undergoing at NBRI.  During this visit Dr. K M Prabhu Kumar, Senior Scientist explained about the process of collection of plants for authentication as well as to keep it in herbarium followed by Dr. Gaurav Kumar Mishra who explained about techniques to prepare the plants for storing in herbarium. Further students have also visited SAIF facilities along with pilot plant. Students greatly appreciated this visit and requested to conduct such related events in near future.
