Amity University and DRDO to strengthen Research Collaboration

 

Dr. K. Ganesan, Director, DRDO Industry Academia-Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, visited Amity University Uttar Pradesh Noida Campus. The aim of the visit was to foster collaboration between DRDO and Amity,  to drive defence innovation and to explore future opportunities for Defence R&D.

 

Deliberating upon the topic, “Capacity Building in Academia & Industry towards Self-reliance in Defence Technologies”, Dr. K. Ganesan, stated, “DRDO has 15 Centres of Excellence across the country and the role of DRDO for the academia includes enhancing the research work of the scientists, funding projects for directed basic and applied research, extending the support of its testing and valuation facilities. The role of academia is to develop the core competencies, skills, and talent and generating scientific and technologically trained manpower, while the industry is instrumental in joint research and development, enhancing technology maturation & prototype and training human resource. We are certain that this collaboration will lead to the development of innovative solutions which will improve the quality of life of individuals and communities. It will benefit the defence industry by providing access to cutting-edge research and will also help the academia by providing access to industry expertise and resources.”

 

Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation (ASTIF), said that the visit of Dr. K. Ganesan will help in initiating joint R&D projects, knowledge exchange, curriculum enrichment and strategic academia-industry collaborations in the defence sector.

 

Welcoming the guest, Dr. A.K. Singh, Senior Vice President, Amity Foundation for Science Technology and Innovation Alliance (AFSTIA), stated, “Industria–academia collaboration is extremely important since it drives innovation, economic growth, and societal progress, ultimately creating a better future for all. DRDO has always been a close industry partner of Amity and Prof. Ganesan’s visit will further enhance our collaboration with the industry, including the R&D ecosystem.”

 

Also present on the occasion were Lt. Gen. (Dr.) S.K. Gadeock, Director General, AIDSS, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Deputy Director General, AFSTIA, scientists and researchers of Amity.
