Brig. Umang Gandotra calls upon Amity students to serve the nation
Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies (AIDSS), under the aegis of Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP), Noida Campus, organized an insightful Lecture on “Operation Sindoor” by Brig. Umang Gandotra, Commander, 9 Artillery Brigade, Meerut.
Addressing the students, Brig. Umang Gandotra, averred, “It is important to know the facts and not believe the stories which are viral on social media. Many times, the truth does not reach people, and they are misled by misinformation. Therefore, I’m grateful to Amity University for providing me with the opportunity to share important facts about “Operation Sindoor” with the students. Pakistan planned and executed the Pahalgam attack since the Pakistani Army is losing its relevance, and internally the country is going through very difficult times in terms of its economy and political stability. The LeT (Lashkar-e-Toiba) Proxies hiding in Kashmir executed the Pahalgam attack. India, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister, took the decision to fight back and punish the conspirators, which was a very bold move. India gave a strict strategic warning message to Pakistan that India will fight back. A well-planned communication strategy was followed by the armed forces, which led to the successful execution of the operation. Pakistan also made many failed attacks on Indian Army, as revenge.”
He further added, “The operation was kept under wraps till the time it was executed and only the soldiers who were a part of the operation knew about it. Pakistan misrepresented many facts and spread misleading information to safeguard their own reputation. However, the misinformation spread by Pakistan was countered by India, and India showcased self-reliance or “Aatmnirbharta” in its equipment and technology. “Operation Sindoor” is not over yet, it is a fight against terrorism which will continue. It is important to note that the stakeholders and information warriors who were affected by the entire operation included the mainstream media, social media, Indian Army and veterans, citizens, the powerful youth of the nation, the adversaries and the global audience. Every message during the Operation works as a bullet and anyone who engages with the message, becomes an information warrior.”
Responding to a student’s question regarding if the Operation could have been avoided, Brig. Gandotra said that it could have been avoided but diplomacy does not work in every situation and sometimes it’s crucial to take strong action.
He advised the students not to believe the rumours and rely only on verified sources of information. He also called upon the students to come forward, join the armed forces and serve the country. Also present on the occasion were Brig. (Dr.) A.K. Tewari, Director, AIDSS, faculty and students of Amity.
