National Conference at Amity
Amity Law School (ALS), Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP), Noida in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), under the Seminar Scheme, Rashtriya Ekta (National Unity) organized a ‘Two Day National Conference’ on the theme, “Empowering India: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Vision for Social Justice, Gender Equality and Agricultural Sustainability”.
Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker, Padma Shree Prof. (Dr.) Jatinder Kumar Bajaj, Founder Director of the Center for Policy Studies, Chennai, said, “Sardar Patel’s ideologies are an inspiration for every citizen of the country. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a close aide of Mahatma Gandhi and his pragmatic approach to governance, emphasizing administrative efficiency, national security, and fostering harmony laid the groundwork for a stable and progressive India. He was a great administrator who worked for the benefit of the society and his commitment to social justice and gender equality serves as a significant platform for addressing critical issues in contemporary India.“
Emphasizing upon the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prof .(Dr.) Ashwani Mahajan, Professor of Economics , PGDAV College , University of Delhi, averred, “Sardar Patel’s vision is extremely valuable for today’s world. We have become the 4th largest economy of the world today, however, there is a need to focus on rural development since there is poverty, illietracy and unemployment is rural areas and the disparity of income between rural and urban areas is increasing. Sardar Patel was the Father of the Cooperative Movement in India and worked relntlessly for rural development. Through his untiring efforts, he constantly strove to serve the nation and contributed significantly to national development.”
Guest of Honour, Prof. (Dr.) Shivendra Kashyap, Former Dean, G.B. Pant University of Agricultural & Technology, Pant Nagar, Uttarakhand, said, “Sardar Patel belonged to a family of farmers, therefore, he empathised with the farmers and understood their problems. He focussed on eliminating their problems and fought for their rights. He envisioned an inclusive India where caste, religion, and regional disparities were minimized, advocating for equality, unity, and a just society as essential foundations for national progress.”
Prof. (Dr.)Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor AUUP, stated, “Gender equality and agricultural sustainability are two significant challenges which our country is facing. We need to focus on making India the “Food Basket of the world”, increasing the farmer’s income and agricultural productivity. Sardar Patel’s ideologies throw light upon matters related to the world and are therefore extremely relevant in today’s scenario.”
Highlighting the significance of the Conference, Prof. (Dr.) D.K. Bandyopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law School, said, “The Conference will enlighten the students about the vision and philosophy of one of India’s greatest leaders Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, motivating them to serve the country and become great human beings.”
