“AI should be used ethically”, say experts during “INFINITY 2025” at Amity

Amity Business School, Amity University Noida organized the 8th edition of its Annual Technology Conference “INFINITY 2025” on the theme “Humanizing AI: Fostering Ethical Intelligence, Responsible Innovation, and Resilient Systems”. The Conference showcased academic and corporate viewpoints, research work and discussions on the theme, thereby providing an opportunity to the students to learn from the experience and insights shared by the experts.

Inaugurating the Conference, Chief Guest Mr. Shailesh Tripathi, Sr. Executive Director, Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), stated, “There is an urgent need to humanize AI since it is our social and moral imperative to serve the society without relying blindly on technology. AI has touched every domain whether it is healthcare, agriculture, or finance, however, ethics should be the foundation of AI. A person’s privacy should not be threatened by the use of technology and to protect the privacy is a moral obligation. AI must align with human values and there is a need to build systems which not only enhance productivity but also well-being. Students are the architects of the future and they must use technology wisely, since the future of AI will be what we choose to make it.”

Guest of Honour Maj. Gen. P.K. Mallick, VSM, (Retd), Senior Research Fellow with CENJOWS, CLAWS & USI, remarked, “Emerging technologies such as Blockchain, Machine Learning and Deep Learning are the disruptive technologies shaping the future. There have been many path-breaking innovations in the past, however, the most important innovation was the development of Printing Press, which revolutionised the world. In the present scenario, AI is one of the most disruptive technologies, however, AI and human beings need to work together. The future leaders must understand the capabilities and limitations of technology and must understand how technology can be used to innovate responsibly.”

Keynote Speaker, Dr. Subroto Kumar Panda, Chief Information Officer, Anand & Anand, opined, “We talk about ROI which means ‘Return On Investment’, but we do not talk about ‘Return on Trust’. Trust is a major factor which drives organizations to work together. Reskilling and upskilling are the pre-requisites of development. In corporate life, people want results instantly, however, results cannot be produced immediately, and it requires patience to reap the benefits.” He called upon the students not to use AI as a substitute to their books and not to rely on technology for their studies, since the knowledge attained by studying hard is never forgotten.

Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh said, “Technology is evolving every day, and we can see new advancements in technology being made at a very fast pace. However, technology should be used in such a way that it does not impact our mental health and emotional well-being. Technology should be an enabler and heavy reliance on technology leads to complications of the human mind. We are certain that this Conference will act as a platform for eminent speakers from industry, academia and government to share their experience and insights with the students who must make the most of this opportunity and learn from the deliberations.”

Welcoming the guests, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal, Additional Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, stated “Artificial Intelligence is being used in all areas today, however, AI is not new. Even in ancient times, there were “yantras” which means tools and machines and “maya” meaning illusions were created to serve different purposes. AI must be used ethically and effectively, which can solve the problems and make life easy. Human beings can never be replaced by technology, and it is the combination of human beings and technology which will together work for the benefit of the society.”

During the Conference, Panel Discussions on topics such as “Ethical Intelligence in AI: Balancing Human Values and Machine Logic” and “Responsible Innovation for a Resilient Future: Policies, Practices, and Accountability in AI”,  were also held wherein Mr. Abhishek Lahiri, VP & Head - Public Policy, Mastercard , Mr. Ankit Goel, Regional Commissioner, EPFO, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, Mr. Ujjwal Minocha, Managing Partner, I9ovare Capital, Co – Founder & COO, Velmenni, Mr. Atul Kulshreshtha, Founder & Managing Partner, GroByz Partners and others participated.
