Special lecture entitled “Nanotechnology, Environmental Health and Safety” by Dr. Srikanth Nadadur

A special lecture entitled “Nanotechnology, Environmental Health and Safety” was held on 21st October 2015 at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Srikanth Nadadur, Ph.D., Program Director for the Nanotechnology Environmental Health and Safety (NanoEHS) and environmental cardiopulmonary health extramural research programs at National Institute of Enviornmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), National Instiute of Health, U.S.A. At that time, Dr. Nadadur was on visit to India as First NIEHS U.S. Science Fellow in India at U.S. Embassy in India at Delhi. Dr. Nadadur has more than 25 years of research experience in molecular biology and toxicology. In his lecture, Dr. Nadadur delivered a comprehensive status of nanotechnology in Environmental Health and Safety and their future with special reference to integrate genomics and systems biology approaches to understand molecular alterations in the cardiopulmonary effects of air pollutants. The lecture was attended by about 125 members from faculty, research scholars and students from Amity School of Biotechnology, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity School of Applies Sciences, Amity School of Engineering Technology, Amity Institute of Information Technology, Amity Research Cell and other schools/ Institutes. Prof. (Dr.) Qamar Rahman, Director and Dean Research welcomed and introduced the Guest. Maj. Gen. K. K. Ohri, AVSM (Retd.), Pro Vice Chancellor introduced Amity University, Lucknow Campus to audience. Dr. Madhu Dikshit, Director, CSIR – Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow and Dr. Alok Dhawan, Director, CSIR – Indian Institute of Toxicological Research, Lucknow were Guests of Honour. The lecture was presided over by Dr. P. K. Seth, Chief Executive Officer, Biotech Park, Lucknow who delivered the Presidential address and explained relevance and impact of nanotechnology in Environmental Health Science. Prof. J. K. Srivastava, Head, Amity Institute of Biotechnology presented vote of Thanks.
