Objective of the Event:
The event “Gandhian Aesthetics: Fashion and Philosophy” comprising a guest lecture, skit, and fashion show aimed to creatively explore Gandhian ideals of simplicity, sustainability, and ethics, promote value-based and experiential learning, inspire sustainable fashion practices, and foster interdisciplinary reflection on the contemporary relevance of Gandhian philosophy.
Event Description:
“Gandhian Aesthetics: Fashion and Philosophy” was an interdisciplinary event featuring a guest lecture, skit, and fashion show that creatively interpreted Gandhian ideals of simplicity, sustainability, and ethics. It encouraged value-based learning, sustainable fashion practices, and reflective engagement with Gandhiji’s philosophy in contemporary cultural and educational contexts.
The event was conducted in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Reduced Inequalities(SDG 10), and Responsible consumption and production thereby strengthening the learning experience with global relevance.
Participation:
- Total Number of Participants: 40 students
- The students demonstrated an understanding of Gandhian principles in fashion and philosophy, reflecting creativity, sustainability, and cultural awareness.”
Outcomes Achieved:
The event led to a deeper understanding of Gandhian values and their relevance in contemporary life and creative expression. Students actively engaged in experiential and value-based learning through performances and design activities. It promoted awareness of sustainable and ethical fashion practices inspired by Gandhian philosophy, strengthened interdisciplinary connections between literature, philosophy, and design, and encouraged reflective thinking on responsible innovation and cultural identity.

All participants received encouragement and constructive feedback from faculty members.
The event successfully met its objectives by fostering a deeper appreciation of Gandhian philosophy through creative expression, engaging students in experiential learning activities, promoting sustainable and ethical fashion practices, and encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue that connected literature, philosophy, and design with contemporary cultural and ethical concerns.
