Amity University Mumbai Organizes Cybersave: A Cyber Security Awareness Initiative

 On 26th October 2021, an online event ‘CyberSave’ was conducted by the members of the Placement Committee at 3 PM under the guidance of Dr. Joyee Chatterjee. The event was held in a hybrid mode, which allowed the participation of all the students from Amity University, Mumbai amidst the global pandemic. The grand event commenced with a warm welcome by the hosts. Honoring and welcoming the acclaimed guests, treasured invitees, revered teachers and various participants as well as the students as their audience, the hosts addressed the gist of the event. 

The host addressed and felicitated the honorable director and HOI of Amity University, Mumbai Dr. Bhawna Sharma who has done specialization in marketing and has completed her PhD in philosophy. Dr. Sharma has over 15 years of teaching experience. She was granted the President Award by Former Honorable President Shri. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Chief guest and speaker for the event Dr. Pushpendu Rakshit who is an assistant professor at Amity Business School, Mumbai. Dr. Rakshit has done specialization in information system management and international business. We also know him as the Programme leader of BBA 2nd year batch and also as the coordinator of the business operation and entrepreneur committee.

Thereafter the event proceeded with the presentation of a PowerPoint prepared by Dr. Rakshit and his lecture on Cyber security. Each slide not only exhibited the importance and need of cybersecurity but also contextualized Dr. Rakshit’s own ideologies and views that focused on vast elements. This was followed by a quiz session with participants from Amity University, Mumbai. The quiz winners were announced at the end of the quiz. 

The hosts thanked all the participants for partaking, the audience for their unparalleled support, Director and HOI Dr. Bhawna Sharma for her motivation and support throughout the event and the guest speaker Dr. Rakshit for sharing his insight and knowledge. Dr. Rakshit expressed his thoughts and point of views about the whole event and congratulated the faculty for the talent that was showcased by the young coming generation and expressed their thoughts about the overall perspective of the event. Dr. Joyee Chatterjee congratulated and facilitated the organizing team. The event ended with a vote of thanks given by the hosts.

 Key Learnings:

? The students learnt about the cyber world in detail it’s advantages, the threats it poses and various ways to tackle them.

? It enhanced knowledge about how to prevent and respond to cyber threats as well as vulnerabilities from cyber incidents.

? The students learned about what is computer crime and the different categories of cybercrime.

? The students gained an understanding of various preventive measures against cybercrime.
