Amity University Mumbai Organizes Extempore Competition On Tobacco Awareness

 Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism organized an “Extempore Competition on Tobacco Awareness” which was open for all the student batches of Amity University Mumbai. The event was held on online mode on MS – Teams from 11:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m on 28th February 2022. There were 65 attendees and 7 participants for the events, the student participants were provided topics on the spot and had five minutes to collect their thoughts and speak. All 7 participants expressed their opinions over the bad effects of Tobacco usage across various spheres such as, issues due to use of tobacco in public places, long term effects, indirect effects, and much more. Some students went to lengths by expressing their own personal issues with tobacco awareness. All in all the aim of sensitization was realized and at the end of the session. The students were judged by an external member.

 
The Event was planned to create awareness among the youth about the harmful effects of Tobacco. Through this competition, participants go the opportunity to express their idea and opinion about damaging impact of the nicotine and nicotine containing items.
 
a. The online Extempore competition aims to primarily create understanding about the damaging effects of Tobacco amongst the youth of Amity University Mumbai .
 
b. The online Extempore emphasizes on the importance of student participation in constructive work by putting their thought out through perspective. It also gave participants an opportunity to research about the theme i.e. Tobacco.
 
c. The online Extempore competition shall motivate audience (Students of AITT & AUM) to build a strong community of volunteers and be among the rational thinker who can be the change makers.
 
All the students participated got exposed and aids in increasing the knowledge base. The students were able to relate to their theoretical concepts through the theme of the Event of creating Awareness Program on Tobacco’s damaging effects on the Youth, various major pockets of India where this is still a major concern. National & International hubs and target age groups, introduced to enormous steps taken by government of India & International organization & Institutes.
 
Participants’ public speaking skills and collecting thoughts and presenting it to masses have improved. It also motivated other students to take part in future such events and express their views on the topic. It introduced them with the current affairs related to the industry. Similar engagements building program and student lead & centric event will be conducted as per the UGC notices. This would serve the true holistic development of a child. 
 
Bringing similar activities, assignments and engagements tie both students and teachers relation towards the upward curve and a positive change is seen in personal and professional sphere of both student & Mentor. More such online events to be follow to keep the spark and enthusiasm in the student alive and push them to participate and engage in two-way learning.
