Amity University Mumbai Conducted National Moot Court Competition 2019

Winner of the competition Symbiosis Law School, Pune

Amity Law School, Mumbai had conducted three days program that gave students a platform to express their opinion by using verbal expressions. Moot Court Competition are the soul of legal education which stimulates a court hearing, increases analytical thinking, inculcates lawyering skills and transforms a law student into a successful lawyer. This event focused on the mooting skills of students who were judged by a panel of judges and were given awards and certificates for their participations.

The objective of the event was: 

1) Concerning about recent changes and its acceptance in the society

2) Creating awareness and sensitivity over general issues.

3) Developing student’s oratory and creative skills.

Due to this event students were able to get widening perspective. They were also able to inculcate thier mooting skills, practical knowledge and its application in the real world. This had indeed helped students develop and enhance their advocacy, legal research and writing skills. 

The Chief Guest for the event was Justice Naresh H. Patil, Chief Justice Bombay High Court (Retd). Former Chief Justice, Hon. Shri Naresh Harishchandra Patil is an aluminous of GLC Mumbai, practiced in the High Court of Bombay, Aurangabad bench since its establishment on constitutional, civil and criminal sides. He was appointed a additional standing counsel for Union of India. He has appeared as a counsel for various statutory bodies and handled a number of celebrated cases. He was elevated as judge and later as acting Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.

The other Guest of Honor was Prof. (Dr) Balraj Chauhan, Vice Chancellor Dharmashastra National Law University. Prof. Chauhan is the first vice chancellor of DNLU. He has also served been the member of UP State Law Commission, UP State Legal authority and Executive Member of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, New Delhi. He has 16 years teaching experience in various universities like Amity Law School Lucknow, NLU Lucknow, NLIU Bhopal. He is a visiting faculty to many universities and judicial training institutes etc.
