Project Objective: The objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity and quality of teaching at partner HEI’s in India by establishment of educational centres with focus on pedagogical  skills through use of  ICT. To achieve this broad objective the project aims to:

  • To create campus-wide teaching culture by establishment the Capacity Building Centers with open and flexible access to its e-learning resources (WP4)
  • To build own capacity by preparing selected staff towards delivering trainings for academics (WP2)
  • To develop map of key teaching competencies in order to design tailor made courses for current and future university teaching staff (WP3)
  • To develop key self-regulation and self-managing competencies for teaching staff in order to overcome the obstacles that they face during the teaching process by preparing teaching programs with focus on pedagogical skill (WP3)
  • To enlarge number of trained staff by implementing innovative blended courses with ICT use (WP2, WP4)
  • To create possibility of applying gained skills and building international teaching and research networks by developing European Visiting Program (WP5)

Work Packages (WP): For convenience of operationalising the project and easy monitoring  the project has been divided into work packages, each of which is related to a particular aspect of the project

Salient outcomes

  • More than 300faculty from Amity trained from Amity University Haryana by European trainers
  • 5 faculty members from Amity University Haryana visited European universities to understand their best practices in teaching learning
  • 4 Infodays were conducted to sensitise faculty in neighbouring colleges of Gurgaon
  • Two international conferences were held- one in Poland and on in Vadodra

Amity Capacity Building Centre (ACBC) has been established at Amity University Haryana as a part of CABCIN project to provide a sustainable solution to raise the standards of teaching staff in Indian as well as foreign HEIs. It will be a part of Amity Centre for Innovation in Education (ACIE) which is being headed by Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Padmakali Banerjee.

The main objective of the centre is to build up the capacity and quality of teaching at various HEIs. Another key focus area of the centre includes cooperation with HEIs located outside India and enhances internationalization.

The inaugural of ACBC on the 9th of July’19 was graced by Dr. Kamila Ludwikowska (CABCIN Project Coordinator) from WUST, Poland, Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Padmakali Banerjee, Mr. Nikhil Jain, CEO, Sanicon Sustainability Pvt Ltd. Prof. (Dr.)Bhavana Adhikari (Center Head of ACBC) and Dr. Vivek Jaglan of Amity University Haryana.The session saw Dr. Kamila talk about the need to set up ACBC and the road ahead for the ACBC. Prof. Padmakali Banerjee spoke about collaboration of faculty members and how ACBC will strengthen the quality of teaching learning. The session was attended by faculty members of Amity University Haryana. Certificates were distributed to all CABCIN workshop participants, Train the Trainer and the European Visit Program participants. The inaugural session ended with a Workshop on 'Interactive Instruction Strategies for Active Student Engagement' by Mr. Ankit Dhamija

The Centre conducts training on continuous basis to current and future HEI teachers exposing them to latest pedagogical skills to prepare them to replicate the same while delivering their sessions. This will ensure the up-gradation of quality of knowledge deliverance.

To be a world class capacity building centre of creativity and innovation and to provide sustainable solution to raise the standards of teaching staff in Indian and foreign HEIs through excellence in education, by conducting cutting edge research and focusing on internationalization.

Mission

ACBS nurtures the talent and enhance creativity among teachers as well as and students and promotes interdisciplinary, trans-departmental and trans-national culture .It also to fosters academic innovations in all aspects of functions performed by HEIs and promotes collaboration and cooperation with other HEIs for research.

Objectives

This Centre has been set up to achieve the following objectives-

  • To strengthen the existing capacity and quality of teaching at AUH and other HEIs.
  • To develop a team of dedicated and passionate faculty members to conduct high-quality and innovative learning courses, deliver feedback and create resources to make excellent teaching possible.
  • To motivate faculty members to conduct high quality impactful research.
  • To create a platform for mutual sharing of knowledge and skills learned with national International HEI.

Intended Activities

Amity Capacity Building Centre has identified various activities that it intends to carry out to fulfill the objectives of the centre. The activities (however it is not an exhaustive list) include

  • Faculty Development Programs(General/Customized for internal & external faculty)
  • Management Development Programs (help in developing integration with industry)
  • Conducting workshops for IQAC
  • Conducting workshops Directors/HOI/HOS for accreditations.
  • Developing Study Learning Materials (SLM) for various courses.
  • Offering certificate programmes on Six Sigma, Leadership etc

Desired Impact

Amity Capacity Building Centre through various activities desires to make impact on various stakeholders of HEI like

  • Faculty: This will improve the quality of knowledge dissemination as well as knowledge creation due the cross-pollination of ideas.
  • Students: Quality students can be created only thru quality teachers who will be sharing with the students’ world class education through latest pedagogical techniques with optimum ICT intervention ENHANCING employability.
  • Academic Administrators: Once they are sensitized about various changes taking in academics landscape they would be instrumental in creating and sustaining an environment conducive for this changing landscape.
  • Corporate Sector: Will be getting the solutions to their problems, will be trained on various skills, will get students with required set of KASH.
  • Management of HEI: Quality teachers, Quality students, quality industry integration will be a differentiation difficult to be replicated resulting High visibility resulting higher admissions.
