International Francophonie Day

 Learning French as a foreign language has the potential to help the students access a new world and allow them to go beyond limits of geographical boundaries. It improves perceptibility in career and enhances quality of job. Amity University, Madhya Pradesh organized the “International Francophonie Day” on 20th  March 2024 with the vision to motivate the students to learn French and to inculcate in the students the love and appreciation for French Language and Culture. La Francophonie refers to all countries, groups or places as well as the political bodies where French is the lingua Franca. The event was hosted by Amity School of Languages and Amity System of Communication Enhancement and Transformation. Prof. Dr. Md. Faizullah Khan, Department of Foreign Languages, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. 

 
The Inaugural Ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by an expert deliberation by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Md. Faizullah Khan who deliberated upon the topic “Learning French in India: Contemporary Relevance and Challenges” 
 

 

The day was celebrated in three segments:
1. Quiz Competition
2. Spell –bee, French Speech Competitions, Painting and French Cuisine   
    Competitions
3. French Song and Dance Competitions
 

 

The campus of AUMP buzzed with the preparation of the students and their performance in these events. It was exciting for the audience to visualize the French culture through dance, speech, singing, and cuisine. A total number of 57 students from across programmes were shortlisted to participate in the final competition and the following were the proud winners:
 

a.    Quiz Competition:

                          b.     Runner-up: Shatakshi Sharma and Ananya Jain
 

b.    Spell-bee  Competition:

c.    French Speech Competition

                          b.     Runner-up: Sneha Yadav
 

d.    Dance Competition

 

     (i) Solo Dance

b. Runner-up: Anshu Sharma
 

         (ii) Group Dance

a. Winner: Yashaswi Shaw & Vedika Upadhyay
b. Runner-up: Kunal Messi, Archana Yadav, Ashwin Nair, Ayushman Singh, Rudra Singh & Himani Jacob
 

e.    Song Competition

                    a. Winner: Palak Velankar
                    b. Runner-up: Nikita Parchure
 

f.     Theme Painting

                          a.     Winner: Apoorva Bhadauriya
                          b.     Runner-up: Rajvardhan Singh Tomar
 

g.    French Cuisine Competition

                          a.     Winner: Anshika
                          b.     Runner-up: Meenal
The speakers were judged on the basis of  matter, manner impact. The students worked in perfect coordination to organize the event successfully. Ms. Chandra Prabha, M. Gauri Pandit, Ms. Kajal Yadav, Ms. Kratika Jadon, Ms. Meenal Argal  and Mr. Anshuman Sandhu, Mr. Anshu Sharma, Mr. Arpit Bajpai, Mr. Lakshay Jain and Mr. Sourav Rathore   were the anchors; hospitality and prize distribution was conducted by the volunteers. .
 
The event culminated with the concluding remarks by Hon'ble Pro-Chancellor AUMP, Lt. Gen. V. K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd). He congratulated the winners and emphasized upon the importance of French as a foreign language among students.
                                     
The winners were awarded with the certificates and trophies by the Hon’ble Pro Chancellor, Officiating Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor. Finally, Mr. Anshu on behalf of all coordinating students and faculty proposed the vote of thanks.
