From January 30 to February 3, 2023, Amity Academic Staff College organized a faculty development programme on "Innovative Methods, Skills, and Eco-Friendly Technologies for Quality and Impactful Research" in conjunction with the Association of Indian Universities' Academic and Administrative Development Center (AIU-AUH-AADC).
The speakers of the session were Dr Sanjna Vij, Dr Vikas Madhukar, Prof. P.B. One of the renowned invited speakers of the session was Prof. Dr. P.C.S. Devara, a panel member. Prof. Dr. P.C.S. Devara gave an expert talk titled "Advances in Direct and Remote Sensing Techniques for Air and Ocean Pollution Studies: Climate Change and Sustainable Goals" at the FDP in addition to giving numerous other talks by distinguished scientists, physicians, engineers, and industrialists on invitation. The relevance of the recently created 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on SGD-13, Climate Action, was stressed by Prof. Dr. P.C.S. Devara in the opening of his speech. He illustrated many contemporary observational methods, including LIDARs and solar, lunar, and astronomical radiometers, and their particular relevance to global warming and climate change in this context. He discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using direct and distant sensing to examine the atmosphere and seas. The attendees were also given an explanation by Prof. Devara of the cutting-edge experimental and modelling methods being used at AUH, Gurugram, India, to study aerosol-cloud-climate interactions, air quality, and other topics. Prof. Devara also gave a quick overview of the procedures to be followed for creating applications for sponsored research projects and publishing research articles in journals with high impact factors.
The FDP's principal objective was to address the 17 Sustainability Objectives and ensure that they were effectively implemented through the National Educational Policy (NEP), transforming Amity Universities into Superpower Missions in both high-caliber academics and significant R & D. The issues of I how to effectively prepare project applications for financial support from funding agencies and (ii) how to create strong research articles to attract their publication in high impact factor journals have each received their own parts.
