Department of Dietetics and Applied Nutrition, Amity Medical School, Amity University Gurugram organized student activity programs on the occasion of Nutrition Week from 4th to 6th September, 2023. The event was been coordinated by Dr. Luxita Sharma, HOI, AMS. The three day program consisted of many events which made the students and faculties aware about nutrition, balanced diet and health. A total of 30 students and 2 faculty members participated in the event.
The health camp organised on the 1st day with the primary intent to provide free nutritional assessment by using anthropometric measures, personalized diet plan and health counselling. The 3rd day consisted of poster making and quiz competition with the theme being “Nutrition for all”. Mr. D. Karthik, MDAN 1st Semester, Ms. Riya Yadav, BDAN 3rd Semester and Ms. Lyna, BDAN 1st Semester received the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively in the poster making competetion. In the quiz competition the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were been secured by Mr. Siddhartha and Mr. H. David, Ms. Khushboo and Ms. Ayushi and Ms. Tanya and Ms. Satakshi respectively. On the 3rd day, a recipe competition was been organised which was being judged by Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) P. B. Sharma, Honorable Mrs.Vice Chancellor Meena Sharma Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Madhukar, based on their nutritional value, affordability and sensory characteristics. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were given to Mr. Dhananjay and Ms. Kajal Dhama, Ms. Anishka and Ms.
Versha and Mr. Sidhartha and Ms. Tanya Malhotra respectively, for this event.
In conclusion, the Nutrition Week celebrations increased awareness about nutrition, balanced diet plans and health counselling. Many students of the college also got an opportunity to have a nutritional assessment and got their personalized diet plans based on the results of the evaluation.
