The Frühlingsfest :
The Fruthlingsfest was a one day fest held at the Amity University Mumbai campus organized by the Amity School of Languages. It was the first full day open-to-all event related to German language and culture organized by a university in Mumbai metropolitan region. Around 120 German learning students from various schools of AUM and various colleges of Mumbai attended the fest. The Festival gave them a chance to get a feel of the German culture on AUM campus.
The Guest of Honour present for the Event:
Mr. Milan Strauss, Intern at the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mumbai. He was fascinated by the efforts put in by the students to organise and execute the fest, as well the amount of research the students did to plan the events.
Objective :
The objective of the fest was to promote the German language and culture in and around the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.The event consisted of a Carnival Parade, a photo exhibition, a German skit, fashion show, a quiz, face painting, poster making and a dance show. The Carnival Parade was the highlight of the fest. It not only marked the beginning of the event but also showcased the German culture with the help of a dance. Along with it, a carnival atmosphere which is all merry and joyful was also experienced by everyone.
The photo exhibition projected the landscape of German speaking regions, the famous personalities, monuments and painting of German speaking region. This was followed by 2 German language skits. Students enjoyed the skits as they were able to listen to the excellent German spoken by Amithy University Mumbai students.
The quiz was organized to test the knowledge of the students learning German. Students were asked questions about German speaking areas in general. The questions were asked both in German and English. Along with it the face painting competition enabled the students to show their creative knowledge and artistic talent by means of painting their face on a theme given on the spot. Poster making was one of the events which brought out the creativity of the students on paper. The theme of the poster making competition was Germany. Students created fabulous paintings on the given theme.
The fashion show conceptualized and designed by Amity School of Fashion Design and Technology portrayed the modern as well as traditional German clothing to the already excited audience. Everyone present was mesmerized looking at the creativity of the students. And finally another traditional German dance was showcased which marked the end of the day events.
