Numerical Study on a Supersonic Flow around a Bullet

Brian Patel of Semester 8 from B.Tech. Aerospace has simulated the airflow behaviour using Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation using ANSYS® Fluent. The objective of this study is to simulate the flow features over the bullet at Mach 2.0. Initially, a domain and a mesh geometry are simulated to fit the problem description for appropriate grid size. The turbulence model is simulated to investigate the effect of the flow field and the numerical method order. The results are validated with the existing data. Figure shows the simulation of the airflow velocity pattern and the impact of the pressure regime created by the bullet on the surrounding air. The project is a significant contribution to validating the existing results using ANSYS® Fluent software
