Mr. Godbole Shivendraraj Shailendra and Mr. P.S.V.S Sai Sravan, from B. Tech. Aerospace Sem 8, have designed an ion propulsion engine also called as ion thruster. This is a form of electric propulsion which ionizes a neutral gases most likely Xenon or other inert gases extracting inert gases and creating cloud of positive ions. It is a clean propelling source for rockets, spaceships, airplanes, drones, and even automobiles. Since, their energy source is pure electricity and propellants are inert gases they are not going to cause any pollution. Their thrust and velocity could be controlled by altering the supply frequency. This project provides a concept for controllable and efficient clean energy solutions. Figure shows the key component of assembly geometry and it’s simulation that can be used in controlling the propulsions.
