Guest Lecture on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law

Amity Law School organized guest lecture on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law on 29th April 2021 by Mr. Anupam Sharan, Vice President, Connesso India.

The main objective of the lecture was to impart knowledge on Human Rights and its laws.

Mr Anupam Sharan , Vice President, Connesso India discussed that what Human Rights are and how these are different from Fundamental Rights. He elaborated on the historical development of Human Rights, various categories thereof and their different generations.

Mr Sharan then discussed about various international organisations and conventions, that contributed to establishing a healthy Human Rights regime across the world. He highlighted the difference between Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. He further elucidated upon Humanitarian Law and its development through various international conventions and treaties.

Coming to the related issues of displacement and resettlement, Mr Anupam educated the participants about Refugees, Migrants and Asylums. He explained the difference between them and discussed the types and treaties that serve the purpose of protecting Human Rights in such cases.   Mr Sharan concluded the Lecture with a video on respect of Human Rights. This was followed by Question-Answer Session in which the Guest clarified the queries raised by the participants.

The Expert Lecture concluded with a VOTE OF THANKS, proposed by Maj. Gen. PK Sharma (Retd.), Professor & Director Amity Law School, Dean Faculty of Law, who thanked Mr Anupam Sharan for his interactive and insightful Lecture. It was a very informative and interesting session.
