Amity University Haryana organized a two days freedom from drug abuse programme

Amity Institute of Clinical Psychology (AICP), Amity University Haryana, Gurgaon and Civil Hospital, Gurugram organized two-day programme on HIV Aids drug dependence under Freedom. Dr. Mehfooz Ahmed (Assistant Professor the faculties of AICP, Dr Vinay, Psychiatrist & Medical officer, Civil Officer, Civil Hospital, Gurugram, Mr Sachin, Clinical Psychologist, Civil Hospital, Gurugram, MS. Shikha, ICTC Counsellor, Civil Hospital, Gurugram, Mr. Srikanth, Head, Organization of Eunuch, Gurugram, Mr.Usman, Sambandh Mental Health NGO, Gurugram. M. Phil Clinical Psychology trainees and interns at Civil Hospital participated in the program. Dr. Mehfooz Ahmed was the coordinator of the program. The basic concepts related with drug dependence were discussed for getting more clarity about the symptoms, etiology, theories of drug addiction, types, treatment and relapse prevention of the disorder. Moreover, psychosocial and awareness strategies for menstrual were also discussed. Subsequently, trainees share the experience with the alcohol addict patients and the family members. The programme also highlighted the strategies for early identification and prevention of drug use in the community. If the patient has strong will power social support, positive attitude and the proper treatment then it is not impossible to quit tobacco consumption. The emphasis was on developing the attitude to spread awareness in the community. There is strong need to remove the stigma in the community. Moreover, If the patient has adequate social support, financial support, positive attitude and the proper treatment then the recovery from the illness is not impossible. The prevention strategies like sensitization, psychoeducation was discussed. The programme emphasized the role of practical and service-oriented aspects in community.
