Amity School of architecture and Planning (ASAP) in collaboration with International Institute (Zigurat Global Institute of Technology) organized a seminar on “New Challenges in AEC Industry: Introduction to BIM” on September 27th, 2022 as a part of the innovation week celebrations at Amity University Gurugram, Haryana. Mr. Rodrigo Ferreiro, Corporate Services Manager, Zigurat Global Institute of Technology; Ar. Shraddha Mirajkar, BIM Architect, Jacobs; Mr Parveen Sharma, CEO, The BIM Engineers; Mr Naveen Boora, Regional Lead of Women in BIM, The BIM Engineers; Mr Naresh Kumar, Lead Architect, Jacobs and Mr Dheerendra Kumar Singh, Associate Middle East Building, WSP were the keynote speakers for the session.
The core of digital transformation in the architectural, engineering, and building industry is BIM, or Building Information Modeling. It is the lifeblood of the construction business, and it is critical to keep current and grasp market trends. The lecture provided our students with an understanding of the latest problems and developments in the AEC business.
Ar. Meenu Babu, Assistant Professor at ASAP, greeted the speakers, and Dr. Ila Gupta, Director of ASAP, introduced the delegates to the Amity School of Architecture and Planning, Amity University - Haryana. On behalf of Zigurat, Mr. Rodrigo Ferreiro delivered a welcome message. The session began with Ar. Shraddha Mirajkar's alumni experience, in which she discussed what BIM is. Mr. Parveen Sharma spoke on the importance of BIM and TBE's involvement to the AEC sector. Ar. Naveen Boora spoke on Women in BIM: Challenges and Opportunities in the AEC Industry. Mr. Dheerendra Kumar Singh highlighted WSP's path to BIM with a case study of Du Headquarter, where he described the implementation of BIM in the design process. Mr. Naresh Kumar presented another case study, this time of Merinda Park Station in Melbourne, Australia. Mr. Rodrigo Ferreiro delivered the last session on Prospects for Professional Development, where he discussed the contemporary opportunities in the market for BIM professionals. Ms. Harneet Kaur, Assistant Professor at ASAP, ended the occasion with a word of gratefulness.
The guests learned about the importance of BIM and its use in the construction sector, as well as how it improves efficiency, energy, and manpower. They were also briefed about the issues in the AEC business as well as the market potential for BIM professionals.
