A guest Lecture on topic “Medication Reconciliation”

A guest Lecture on topic “Medication Reconciliation” was organised by AIP on 7th August 2025. The lecture sought to encourage students to strengthen their clinical knowledge, particularly regarding prescribed drugs and patient compliance, while aligning with the mandate of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of AUH.

Delivered by Dr. Tarun Wadwa, Associate Professor & Associate Dean, Department of Pharmacy, RAK Medical and Health Sciences University, UAE, the session was intended to enhance students’ awareness of contemporary good pharmacy practices adopted globally. The primary objective was to help students understand the theory and practice of medication reconciliation, its key components, and its significance in improving patient care.

Dr. Tarun Wadwa’s detailed explanation of the four critical components of medication reconciliation—recording medicines, comparing prescriptions, identifying discrepancies, and documenting changes—offered students a comprehensive understanding of the process. His emphasis on the importance of clinical knowledge and patient compliance resonated strongly with the audience.
