“Hashtag to Startup: Are influencers the new Entrepreneurs” was organised by ABS on 27th August 2025. The event aimed to spark discussion on sustainability, ethics, and the broader implications of digital democratization and hashtag-driven movements in shaping modern entrepreneurship.

The aim of the debate “From Hashtag to Startup: Are Influencers the new Entrepreneurs?” was to critically examine the evolving role of social media influencers in the entrepreneurial landscape. It sought to provide a platform for students to analyse whether influencers truly embody the traits, skills, and impact necessary to function as entrepreneurs in today’s digital economy.

Students explored the challenges, opportunities, and economic outcomes associated with influencer-led ventures. The session highlighted that influencers are not merely brand promoters but are increasingly transitioning into entrepreneurs by creating direct-to-consumer businesses and leveraging digital platforms.
