Faculty Development Programme on Indian Heritage Management

Amity School of Hospitality organized a faculty development Programme on Indian Heritage Management between   5th – 9th  July 2021. 

The main objectives of the event was to enable key participants, through targeted training, to independently transform heritage assets from decaying objects of study to dynamic sources of learning, community identity and economic development and purpose of a heritage management system is to ensure the effective protection of the cultural properties for present and for future and recognize that all forms of cultural heritage in India are valued as equal in importance. 

The Speakers of this FDP were:

Prof. Prashant Gautam, Professor, UIHTM Dean, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, PU  Director Sports, PU. 

Prof.AshishDahiya,  Professor-Hotel & Tourism Management, Director for Centre for Life skills & Soft Skills, MDU-Rohtak. 

Mr.Anil Oraw, Regional Director (North), India Tourism Delhi. 

Prof. Prashant Gautam focused on Digital Heritage to be included in the coming times. He explained Indian Heritage with the help of stories, traditions, and the culture of the country. He gave the insights with the help of celestial events so that participants can understand Heritage Management. His focus was on digital management and also how to manage the Heritage Management. 

Prof. Ashish Dahiya focused on prevailing practices in Heritage Management. He focused on connecting people and lifestyle, identification of best practices, involvement of national agencies and other stakeholders in heritage management. He presented the challenges and opportunities about the heritage management which India is facing. The enlightening point which he focused on was to put again into consideration our ancient old practice “Ayurveda”. 

Mr. Anil Oraw shared his practical experience with the participants. He focused on community participation and their involvement in Heritage Industry. He also highlighted the problems of the people who are involved in promoting local heritage.  

Dr. Ruchika Kulshrestha, FDP coordinator took the participants on to a throwback journey of 5 days in 5 mins. 

Prof. Paramita Suklabaidya, Director, SoTHMS, IGNOU focused on current Indian Heritage Management and what new can be done. 

Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha, IITTM Gwalior focused on guide training for heritage monuments

Mr. Ravi Gosain, Vice President IATO, gave insights on Heritage monuments and its various ways to conserve and protect. 

Mr. Arunangshu Bhattacharya, Dy. Director, Amity School of Hospitality, also gave his thanks to the speakers and participants for joining us. 

The last day of the five-day FDP concluded with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Kunal Seth, Professor, Amity School of Hospitality, Amity University Haryana. Dr. Ruchika Kulshrestha expressed gratitude to Prof. P.B.Sharma (Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor AUH), Prof. Padmakali Banarjee, Pro VC AUH, AICTE – ATAL Academy, University Authorities for their support and encouragement.  

Total 189 students and 11 faculties attended the session.
