National Public Relations Day on the Theme “Public Relations: Fifth Pillar of Democracy”

National PR Day is celebrated on 21st April every year to mark the significant contribution of PR Professionals in the building of strong corporate image as well as establishing effective communication network amongst the masses. The theme of this year’s PR Day celebration was “ Public Relations; Fifth Pillar of Democracy” to bring forth how PR Professionals can create honest and one to one connect with community thus enabling them to come forward in key decision making of the Government and how they can be the catalysts of change at the grassroot level and the development of the nation at large.

Day1
Day 1 of the event witnessed the energetic participation of the students in the various student led group interactive activity which helped in brainstorming and showcasing their innovative mindset and skills in the diverse areas of storytelling, branding, designing, content writing and effective pitching. The event had an electrifying impact as all the students contributed their best with a great spirit of teamwork and creativity. The event was followed by a very engaging Media Quiz executed seamlessly with various rounds of questions and activities to judge the level of knowledge and presence of mind of the students.

Day-2

The second day of the celebration witnessed the execution of various theme based engaging activities reflecting rich insights, expertise and skills, and learning from industry professionals.

5. Mr. Gajendra Singh Gurjar, Public Relations Officer, Jaipur Metro Rail

The day commenced with the judging of the Posters by the eminent dignitaries prepared by students as a part of Poster Making Competition reflecting the various aspects of the theme. The deliberations of the day started with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries followed by Welcome Address of Dr. Jayati Sharma, Director, ASCo and opening remarks delivered by Hon’ble Pro President, AUR, Prof. (Dr.) G.K. Aseri.
Prof. (Dr.) Jayati Sharma, Director, ASCo & Head, Directorate of Alumni Affairs emphasized on Public Relations crucial role in fostering meaningful dialogue between institutions and society, enabling informed participation and inclusive development. Followed by the opening remarks of Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) G.K. Aseri who stated that Public Relations acts as a vital pillar in strengthening democracy by ensuring transparent communication and empowering citizens at every level.

Dr. Ajit Pathak, National President, Public Relations Society of India shared a special blessings message that added significance to the occasion.

The deliberations commenced with a Panel Discussion centred on an extremely relevant and highly informative topic, “Participatory Communication Models for Sustainable Future: Community Engagement and Innovation in Democratic Context" moderated by Dr. Tanushri Mukherjee, Organiser of the event and Associate Professor, Amity School of Communication. The panellists emphasized the growing importance of participatory communication in addressing real-life issues, empowering communities—especially women—and enhancing public trust through transparent and inclusive engagement strategies. The discussions also shed light on the role of government communication initiatives, grassroots outreach programs, and digital platforms in bridging the gap between policy and people. Speakers highlighted the importance of interactive communication, community listening, and innovative campaigns in addressing societal challenges and countering misinformation.

The Panel Discussion was followed by the execution of PR Campaign on “Role of Participatory Communication in Creating Voter Awareness and Education” and a Nukkad Natak on “Digital Literacy: Creating Awareness about Cyber Fraud” by the students of various semesters. The student led activities brilliantly highlighted how Effective Communication can be a pillar of bringing community awareness towards major societal issues and problems. The activities were highly appreciated by the dignitaries. The day concluded with the Prize Distribution ceremony and the proposing of Vote of Thanks by Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Professor, ASCo.

The two-day event successfully provided a platform for knowledge exchange, skill development, and meaningful dialogue, reinforcing the role of Public Relations as a catalyst for social change and democratic empowerment.
