Prof. Sadhana Ravishankar is a Professor, Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences, Member of the Graduate Faculty, Chair, Applied BioSciences – GIDP and, Professor, Applied BioSciences – GIDP. Prof. Sadhana is also the Chair, UA Food Safety Consortium. Prof. Sadhana’s research interests include, Control of foodborne pathogens; natural antimicrobials; biofilms; bacterial stress response, Food Safety and Consumer Health, and Environmental Microbiology

Dr. Sadhana Ravishankar's aim is to contribute towards a significant reduction in illnesses by improving the safety of foods by:

  • 1. Researching practical solutions, with an emphasis on natural products for the food industry in order to provide safe and wholesome foods for the consumer

  • 2. Teaching courses on food microbiology and biotechnology

  • 3. Providing outreach activities engaging producers and communities

  • 4. Providing microbiology testing services to industry
