The Department of Dietetics and Applied Nutrition at Amity Medical School, Amity University Gurugram, organized a webinar on "Hypertension: Current Trends and Future Perspectives" in collaboration with IAPEN India, Delhi Chapter, on July 4th, 2023.
The primary objective of the webinar was to educate students about the recent trends and future perspectives in the field of Dietetics and Nutrition related to hypertension. The students were encouraged to understand the practical experiences and lifestyle modifications necessary for effectively treating hypertensive patients.
Dr. Manju Panda, Chief Diabetes Educator at MAX Super specialty Hospital, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the link between diabetes and hypertension. She explained the interrelationship between these metabolic disorders and how they mutually affect each other. Dr. Panda also discussed management strategies that can enhance the quality of life for individuals with these conditions.
Ms. Himani Puri, Chief Dietician at Apex Hospital, Nashik, focused on hypertension in her presentation. She elaborated on the term itself, the difference between blood pressure and circadian rhythms, and provided valuable insights into lifestyle management for hypertension.
The webinar concluded with a panel discussion on a practical approach to combat hypertension. The panelists shared their professional experiences and engaged in meaningful discussions with the participants.
A total of 122 students actively participated in the webinar. Overall, it proved to be a highly informative session for all the participants.
