A Seminar by ASAS on November 7, 2024
Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Forensic Sciences (ASAS) organised a seminar on ‘Prevention of Neurotoxicity by Amyloid-Beta Peptide Targeting’, on November 7, 2024. Students had the opportunity to interact with the guest speaker and faculty coordinators to further explore these topics and build connections that can support their academic and research pursuits in neurobiology.
The session aimed to provide valuable insights into innovative approaches for targeting amyloid-beta peptides to prevent neurotoxicity, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. It sought to educate attendees about the role of biocatalytic methodologies and bioorganic chemistry in advancing neuroprotection strategies.
The session effectively introduced attendees to cutting-edge research on amyloid-beta peptide targeting, discussing experiments such as γ-oscillation, fibril formation, and molecular modelling. Students gained an in-depth understanding of how these methods can potentially prevent neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.
