The exhibition “Stories from Home: Folktales and Cultural Traditions” by ASLA on 16th April 2026, aimed to promote awareness and appreciation of India’s diverse cultural heritage through the exploration of regional folktales and oral traditions.
The event sought to encourage students to examine folktales as important sources of cultural memory, moral values, and collective identity while developing their research, interpretative, analytical, and presentation skills. It also aimed to foster experiential and interdisciplinary learning by integrating storytelling, cultural studies, and visual representation within an academic framework. Through active participation, the exhibition encouraged students to reconnect with indigenous knowledge systems and appreciate the richness of India’s cultural plurality.
Through posters and narrative presentations, students effectively showcased the richness of regional folktales, cultural traditions, and oral storytelling practices that continue to shape cultural identities and social values. The exhibition created an engaging academic environment that encouraged cultural exchange, critical interpretation, and creative expression. It successfully highlighted the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge systems and demonstrated how folktales serve as significant carriers of cultural heritage, collective memory, and traditional wisdom. The event also enhanced students’ research, communication, and presentation skills while promoting experiential and interdisciplinary learning in alignment with contemporary educational approaches.
