The Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism (AITT), Amity University Mumbai, organized an insightful academic session titled “Communicating Culture: Linking Heritage, Tourism and Diplomacy” on 15th November 2025 at the City Office, Kurla. The event brought together students and faculty members to explore the growing intersection between cultural heritage, tourism, and global diplomacy.
The session was conducted by Ms. Atreyee Chakravarty, Public Diplomacy Officer at the Australian Consulate–General, who shared valuable perspectives on how culture operates as a powerful instrument of soft power in international relations. The event was moderated and coordinated by Mr. Sudarshan Nair, with participation from BTTM and MTTM students and faculty member.
The lecture highlighted how tangible and intangible heritage serve as narratives that communicate a nation’s identity, values, and traditions across borders. Students gained insights into the role of tourism as a cultural bridge that fosters people-to-people engagement and shapes global perceptions of destinations. The discussion emphasized how public diplomacy strategically connects culture, education, and tourism to strengthen bilateral relationships and promote mutual understanding.
The session also introduced students to emerging career opportunities in cultural diplomacy, heritage communication, and international tourism policy. Faculty and research scholars benefited from enhanced academic perspectives in areas such as soft power studies, heritage management, and global tourism governance.
