Circular economy and waste Management in the era of Sustainability

The Speaker Dr. Anurag Asawa , Professor of Economics from Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics had in detailed tried to explain and present the Circular Economy activities along with the Linear Economy details. He started with the Circular Economy definition and how Circular and Linear economy are different. It was lucidly put forward that waste management is related to the extra expenditure and over expenditure done by society in order to show off and also represent the richness. He spoke about how an old item can be reuse, refurbishment, repair, remanufacturing recycling and recover were explained with current examples. The points like Resource efficiency, Product longevity, upcycling ,sharing economy, reverse logistics is applied. There was the mention of E-waste and also about protecting the economy by unnecessary wastage of excess materials. The Lecture focused on reusing plastic bags,Steel bottles, repairing electronic items and shoes , passing books from elder siblings to younger ones, reusing leftover food and focused on Kabadiwala recycling system.
